The control circuit of the general inverter based on the TMS320F240 DSP was designed in this paper. Aiming at function of the present general inverter and combining with the hardware design, the practicable program was compiled to realize the basic, assistant and special function of the general inverter. A prototype was made and tested, and the result indicated that the circuit is credible and the program run well. To adapt to the requirement of the network of the inverter, the communication program was designed based on the SCI module of the TMS320F240, so that the PC can supervise the local inverter in a long distance. This design made up the application basis of the fieldbus. To avoid the disadvantage of the sometime panel, the new panel was designed in this paper based on the SP1 module. Also, the effect of the dead time to the inverter system was lucubrated, and two practicable schemes of the dead time compensation mechanism was analyzed. The experiment was carried out. Through the comparison and the analysis, the best way to compensate the dead time was given .
