In this paper, the key technology on the hydraulic water gate in the Three Gorges Project is fully discussed, analyzed and tested. In accordance with application, special structure and working condition of the water gate, the paper presents the comparative analysis for the technical feature and developing tendency of the hydraulic water gate at home and abroad, describes several key technical points of the water gate in the Three Gorges Project, points out technical drawback in manufacturing large-size hydraulic water gate in China, expounds and proves the importance for analyzing and researching the water gate and definably raises orientation and content in research and analysis.Analysis, comparison and discussion for technical requirement of cylinder-key hydraulic component used in the hydraulic water gate of the Three Gorges Project are presented in the paper. In the light of the features in special outer protection and displacement detecting control, the methods, principle, precision and characteristic in detecting displacement of various cylinders are comparatively analyzed, an advanced non-contact detecting method with protection function suitable for detecting displacement of a long stroke cylinder is raised; the structure, stroke, precision and safety required by a long stroke cylinder are resolved.The paper also analyses the dynamic and static characteristic of the hydraulic control circuit and key component used in the hydraulic water gate, such as balanced valve and balancing circuit in the light of special requirement for working condition of the hydraulic water gate used in the Three Gorges Project, and basing on the result from computer dynamic characteristic emulating and by analyzing the technical feature of the balancing circuit in the hydraulic water gate for the Three Gorges Project, quantitatively raises the principle for selection of balanced valve parameter.On the basis of all the above analysis and research, an experimental analogical device to test the balancing valve circuit of the hydraulic water gate has been firstly adopted. The device sends out various random disturbance signals to the balancing valve circuit of the hydraulic system for the radial head check gate operating at the worst condition by using a computer. Throughout analysis of all results and characteristics from the analog experiment, the paper firmly reaches the conclusion for stability of the balancing valve circuit.
