Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is an optical fiber passive device and develops quickly in the last decade. As having advantages such as littler inserting loss, better wavelength selection and absolute coding, FBG has bright prospects of applications in fiber communication and sensing. FBG is sensitive to temperature and stresses. Its central wavelength will shift with the changes of environment temperature and stresses. There is a high demanding of wavelength stability of FBG for fiber communication and stress sensing, while FBG temperature sensitivity should be enhanced for temperature sensing. In the other hand, FBG is fragile and subject to attacks of acid and alkali. As a result, it is necessary look for effective packaging methods to protect FBG for fixing and making a stand against the rough environments.In this work, experimental results on packaging of FBG are presented. On basis of packaging principle of temperature sensitivity and compensation, we designed packaging components. Several materials with large coefficient of expansion were selected to make packaging components, and it was found that the packaging materials have good temperature sensitivity and compatibility with optical fibers. Experimental accuracy and repetition of FBG temperature sensitivity and compensation were discussed.have selected several materials which has bigger coefficient of expansion to do packaging components, have made many temperature experiments, there have not flaws, such as aging, crackle, absciss layer, packaging materials have good temperature sensitivity and compatibility with optical fiber;have designed the simple and practical packaging components, have performed a serials of experiments about accuracy and repetition of FBG wave-length, have obtained the first step conclusion;have analyzed the result and made comparison between the result of different experiment, have summarized the best packaging effect and several rules to reduce mistskes.
