The diagnosis of electrical apparatus has now witness the development from preventive maintenance to predictive maintenance (condition based maintenance),at the seminar of sino -Japan insulation diagnosis and CIGRE conference in!996,life expectancy-oriented diagnosis of electrical apparatus is issued,which is a new method to grasp the life expectancy of apparatus through the analysis on the information gained by on-line or off-line means,the electrical life expectancy of circuit-breaker's (CB) contacts is the most important aspect of circuit-breakers . Based on the comprehensive study on contact erosion and massive tests,it is found that the erosion of CB contacts is dominantly depend on the arcing time and breaking current.This paper analyses the mechanism of electrical arc of vacuum circuit breaker and discusses the primary factores. Then This paper put forwardes a way to prognosticates the life exepctancy of electrical endurance of vacuum circuit breaker base on the power of arc.In hardware,the vacuum circuit breaker breaking circuit factores monitoring device is composed of technical controling computer and dates collection card.the structure is simpleness and easy to extension.In software,Windows NT multitask operation system is applied .the object-oriented programming technique,real-time databaseand commercial database are utilized. Thes made the whole system more reliable,flexible and open.
