With the dramatic development of intelligent building, structured cabling system has been practicing extensively in intelligent building. However, the shop drawings design of structured cabling system is generally taken by hand, and then realized by the help of common drawing software like AutoCAD, which thoroughly lose pace with the highly-speed development of construction technology of structured cabling system. For the extensive application of CAD technology in intelligent building structured cabling industry, especially in construction enterprises, the dissertation focuses on parameterized method of structured cabling system design.This dissertation introduces the status quo of structured cabling technology and the application of CAD technology in the field of structured cabling, analyzes every development tools of AutoCAD 2000 by comparison, introduces two tools: Visual LISP development environment and AutoCAD VBA development environment, used in the development of structured cabling CAD system, concludes the typical operation methods of database by the use of AutoCAD VBA, finally brings forward the method of developing structured cabling CAD system and describes it in detail.This dissertation brings forward the method of obtaining CAD system, which can be used to design shop drawings of structured cabling project in intelligent building, through studying further development of AutoCAD 2000.The shop drawings CAD elementary program of structured cabling project is compiled according to the method described in this dissertation. The program can compute automatically and draw shop drawings according to design criteria and structured cabling system's essential parameters which are input by architects. Shop drawings design in structured cabling project should ascertain cabling equipments and cables' routes according to design criteria and user's demand, and should produce firstly needs table of equipment and material quantity. And bulk of non-diagrammatic data is necessity in designing process for producing this table. For convenience to architects of structured cabling, structured cabling CAD system uses Access to save these non-diagrammatic data and produces the table of equipment and material quantity according to the database. In the development process of structured cabling CAD system, AutoCAD VBA is used to compile program modules which needs to operate database, Visual LISP is used to compile program modules which imitates architect's thinking to design and draw, including the situationof reading data of database and writing data into database.The development method studied in this dissertation is easy to grasp by architects who have full structured cabling expertise and working experience but are lack of rich computer expertise. Architects can not only adopt the program compiled in this study to design shop drawing directly, but also further develop the program for your demand referring to the related method in this study. Even architects of other specialities can develop their own CAD system with the help of development method in this study.The project is an original study, and the project needs more development. The program compiled in this study needs to be optimized and be made more practical.
