Compared to other machine types,Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) offers an excellent balance between cost, reliability, power density and high speed capability. However the competence of SRM used as a novel DC generation system can not be neglected. This dissertation is devoted to theoretical study and engineering practice on switched reluctance generator system.Firstly, the basic theory of Switch Reluctance Generator (SRG) is discussed in detailed, based on the mechanism electric energy converting analysis,non-linear analysis and non-linear simulation. Three control methods of SRG (angle position control method, current chopping control method, pulse width modulation control method) are deeply studied and analyzed. The electronic controller, which controlled by DSP or by hardware circuit are developed for low-power switched reluctance generation system. Finally, two novel control schemes, exciting voltage control and full conducted current chopping control, are discussed in detailed and proved by tests of SRG prototype system.
