Baise Hydraulic Power Plant lies in the head of Yujiang river, which is 22km away from Baise city. The geologic condition of side slope is complex. It is composed of soil and intense weathering rock on the surface and slightly weathering rock under the surface. Further more, it has many faults, fissuring and weak intercalations. The problem that stability of side slope alongside of tail channel is about rock and soil problem. But the stability of the side slope is very important to the construction schedule of project and the safety running of junction. So, it is very important to analyze the stability of side slope well and truly.Highwall slope is very common in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and traffic engineering. It is a significative thing to find a good way to analyze the stability of side slope and reduce the frequency of slope failure,3D nonlinear finite element can be used to simulate the geologic condition and consider the nonlinear constitutive relation of rock and soil, and it can reflect the rule of transmutation and stress distributing of side slope exactly. On this basis, we can estimate the stability of slide slope. In this paper, 3D nonlinear finite element model is used to analyze the stability of side slope of Baise Hydraulic Power Plant's tail channel, and the result to be given for consulting.In general, for the stability of side slope, we should specify a safety factor. Because the work state on limiting equilibrium theory of rigid body is assumed, it can't be used to analyze the course of the rock breakage. By using the method of reducing shear stiffness by step, that is, reducing shear stiffness during 3D nonlinear finite element analysis, it can simulate the stability of slope when its materials intension become strength from weak. When the slope is limiting equilibrium, we can define the safety factor on this parameter. This method and the stability of the slide slope analysis will be discussed in this paper.The determination of potential downslide surface is one of the most important content, so a method is brought forward. Based on the result of 3D nonlinear finite element analysis, a method to determinate the potential downslide surface and safety factor for analyzing sliding force has been put forward. By this method, we can calculate the force of downslide. This can help the engineer to design the reference.Reinforcing the slope by anchor jack is a common method. In 3D finite element method, anchor jack is simulated by link element. In this paper, the method that using link element to assort with block element has been put forward. The mechanism of reinforcing the slope by anchor jack also has been discussed in this paper.
