According the special application background of the single source and the short line in the 110kV power system , the author proposed a feasible protective scheme ,in which the power frequency variation distance protect theory with combination to the four- lateral distance relay is used as quick and mainly theory. It can not only solve the problem that the protective value is difficult valued ,but also can improve the characteristic of high-speed and reliable in microcomputer protective device. It is realized by a chip microprocessor. A microcomputer distance protective device based on 80C196KC has been designed.In the paper , firstly, the distance protect theory and it's development are introduced simply , secondly, the power frequency variation distance protect theory and the operator quality applied in the power system of single source and short line are discussed in detailed , the feasibility of the proposed protect scheme has been proved. Then the special computer algorithms are introduced properly , the procedures of software and compositions of the hardware are explained necessarily. Finally the test result of the device are analyzed and summarized , the follow-up job is prospected.
