Space-grid structures are used in a lot of architecture for their abundant forms, good structural capability, convenient installation and better economy benefit The CAD system for space-grid structures is marketable, and many developers pay attention to its developmentPrevious structure design software is based on process-oriented technology, which is difficult to reuse and extend, and its development is inefficient Software programmed based on object-oriented technology is easier to spell over, reuse and maintain than on process-oriented technology.This paper discusses the development of space-grid structure computer aided design program on the personal computers. This program is made up of three parts, the CAD pre-process part, the structural design part and the post-process part. As an important part of CAD program, the pre-process function is to meet the needs of creation, inputting, processing and correcting of data in structure design.In light of object-oriented idea, this paper details the pre-process part and the post-process part of space-grid structure CAD program, and how to deal with mixed-language programming in Windows environment with Visual C++ and Visual Fortran. And for the disadvantage of process-oriented technology, we discuss object-oriented software design method and it's developing environment. According to PKPM's general request, we have done primary development of the pre-process part and the post-process part of space-grid structure CAD program in CFG graphic supporting system with object-oriented program language C++. We have completed twenty-four kinds of modeling of normal space-grid structure and partial work of post-process part. Finally, credibility of the system is verified by calculating examples.
