With the logistics disciplines developing and applying, modern logistics management has made a remarkable contribution to the enterprises. More and more manufacturers focus on developing their core competitions while peeling off logistics department to establish one independent logistics company or outsourcing other professional logistics companies. Such, to satisfy more customers' requirements for professional logistics service and improve inner logistics management which results in profiting a lot from logistics market allow traditional logistics enterprises to make some revolutions. One of those revolutions is to realize systemization management by establishing logistics management system to integrate, analyze and share information across the process. The import and export dock called NO.3 operating district is made up of two wharves named NO.8 and NO.9 of Wuhan Iron and Steel Cooperation (hereafter referred as WISCO) which is the leading distributing center of finished products. And attached to NO.8 and NO.9 wharves, there are two stockyards used to temporarily store finished products during products assembling and transiting process. For the receiving and delivering operation and inventory management in NO.8 and NO.9 stockyards directly affect products' circulating capacity in NO.3 operating district and the loading/ unloading efficiency of ships which eventually postpone the delivering time to customersAccording the tenth five year's planning of WISCO, WISCO will produce 9 million tons annually and outselling products will highly exceed the designed 1.2 million tons circulating capacity of NO.3 operating districts. And, in 2000, there was 1.73 million tons of outselling products, whose exceeding part almost occupied the one third of designed capacity. Such, regarding the present and the future, the circulating capacity of NO. 3 operating district has been one bottleneck in the supply chain of WISCO. So revolutions are imperative under situation which include establishing management information system to improve logistics management, enhance service level and highly utilize stockingcapacity, So considering the trend of logistics informatization and the current situation of NO.3 operating district, this thesis intends to develop one advanced technical method to improve on managing the two stockyards of WISCO by analyzing the current receiving, put-away, picking and delivering process of finished products and BPR.The main achievement of this thesis is to develop the intelligent stockyard of finished products management information system which has presently been applied in the industrial port of WISCO. This system can achieve:1 Improving transportation management by integrating orders.2 Visual inventory management, intelligent put-way and storagemanagement3 Date dynamic passing and processing along the whole process fromcargo's receiving to cargo's delivering.
