The content of the paper is an important aspect in the modern design method of fans. The objective of this paper is to build a software for axial fans' impeller designing. This software mainly includes four modules, experiential design module, data conversion program module, Three-Dimension Flow analysis program module, and optimization program module. An existing program of experiential design method for axial fan impeller was adopted for the pre-designing. And the program appended in the NASA report TN D-7344, which is based on the Three-Dimension Flow Theory, was used as the main part of the analysis program. The improved program can also calculate the pressures at the impeller surface and the efficiency of the impeller as additions. And some assistant programs were programmed for the coordinates conversion, units and data format conversion, in order to make the input data suitable to analysis program. Analyzing the calculation results, an optimization program will automatically change the profile data (especially the fix angle) of the impeller, and then return to the analysis program. After a great deal of iterated calculation, an optimized impeller will be gained. This software also can optimize the number and the profile thickness of the blade. Using this software, the best-optimized impeller has a high efficiency and a better performance than the pre-designing impeller, and lots of time will be saved in the period of fans designing.
