With pollution of atmosphere increasing and the environment of human being living deteriorating, and resource of petroleum decreasing every year, people make a request for vehicle, which mainly raise the pollution of atmosphere in city. They wish the vehicle have the low emission and new fuel can substitute the petroleum appear. This paper makes a research of ethanol, as one of fuels substituting of petroleum, by gasoline ethanol blends experiment and gasoline hydrated ethanol blends experiment. Moreover the paper makes a predictive research of emission by making a model of emission, especial for predictive emission of gasoline hydrated ethanol blends. In experiment, we can get the datum of the torque, power, consume of oil, temperature of exhaust and emission etc of different proportion gasoline ethanol blends and gasoline hydrated ethanol blends. And we contrast datum of blends to those of gasoline. The result indicates that engine using blends keeps the good power capability and economical capability. As far as emission is concerned, carbon oxide of blends is lower than that of gasoline, and hydrocarbon emission of blends is the same as the engine using gasoline, but the nitrogen oxide emission is higher than the gasoline engine. The comparison of the results of the experiment and calculation of the model shows that the model prediction is agree with the experiment results in quality but not in quantity. That is mean the model has the ability to predict the emission of such engine in quality but lack the accuracy to predict the emissions. The reason of this may be as follows, firstly, the model has not including some important physical process such as gap effect, wall quenching extinction effect, which may greatly influence the emissions; secondly, the emissions formation in the cylinder are not all of equilibrium process but the process controlled by the chemical kinetics. That means, a model which not only includes the important physical process, but also based on the chemical kinetics should be established for predicting the emissions of such engine.
