Inertial technology is a totally independent measuring method . It does not depend on the light, electromagnetic wave, sound, magnetic field and other outer information to measure the line movement and angle movement of the body. It is widely used in national defence high- tech, spaceflight technology, aeroplane, shipping and sea technology fields and so on. At present, high -precision, high- reliability low - cost, miniaturization, digitization have been the trend of inertial technology field. Ring laser gyro and fiber optic gyro (totally called optics gyro) are indispensable factors that Inertial technology stride forward Optic gyro (including ring laser gyro and fiber optic gyro etc) is an angle rate sensor, which is on the base of Sagnac generalized relativity effects It represent the new trend of development of inertial instrumentand component., Its unique entirely-solid state, simple configuration, wide dynamic range, short starting time, high antibounce ability, low-cost, small-cubage, light-weight, low- power waste make it not only compatible for the civil industry field but more for martial application . For the advantage as above, the optic gyro is very potential to the strap-down inertia navigation system. In this paper, optic gyro is viewed as the object of investigation and several aspects is investigated as follows .Two important indexes-bias instability and scale factor were measured and investigated, including bias, its repetitiveness, temperature sensitivity, random walk coefficient and scale factor, its nonlinearity, asymmetry, repetitiveness. We make use of the Allan variance method to separate the noise factors which affect the performance of the Optic gyro, such as the angle random walk, bias instability, rate random walk, rate ramp, quantization noise, Markov noise and sinusoidal noise. But the most common noise is angle random walk, bias instability, rate random walk, rate ramp and quantization noise. In this paper, the random error model including the most common five noise as above .Two applications of gyro were involved in this paper: one is application in north -seeking system , the other one is research of alignment in SINS . In theformer, we measure the output of mutiposition within the range of 360 degrees, then get the north angle which fitting the data with minimum square error or DFT. In the latter, that is in two -position alignment, the method of wavelet analysis is used to filter the output signal of optic fiber optic gyro, at last, the direction cosine matrix is gotten, the inertial components are demarcated,...
