With the development of optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensor technology, the fiber optic gyroscope is coming into small volume with more wide dynamic measurement range, less initializing time and strong anti-interference ability. So it has been widely used as a new solid sensors in recent years. The compass equipped with fiber optic gyro can provide real-time navigation service for ships, aircraft or automobile.In this paper, we design the fiber optic gyro compass system and heading slave compass display driver system based on the Cotex-A8 kernel of the S5PV210 microprocessor. The whole system mainly include: pre-amplifying circuit, A/D conversion circuit, a digital logic circuit, D/A conversion circuit, an operational amplifier circuit. The signal acquisition model of fiber optic gyro pick the AD9220 chip, A/D conversion with the architecture of DAC8512+LM358 for the fiber optic gyro feedback signal conditioning circuit. Then, we designed the S5PV210 peripheral circuit mainly consisted of power supply circuit, power monitor and reset circuit, NAND and Flash EEPROM storage circuit, RS422 serial communication circuit. In the heading slave compass display driver system, it use the STM32 chip with Cotex-M3 as the core. This part has two purpose. First, communicating with the S5PV210 navigation and calculating module to display the course through the I2 C protocol; Second, using IR2117 + IRF540 scheme to drive the compass to dial.Finally, this paper does the test on the three-axis inertial navigation platform and the PC-based software test platform with Visual C++ 6.0 development environment to complete the fiber optic gyro performance testing experiment. The testing experiment includes fiber optic gyro scale factor and zero bias stability. It completes experiment that fiber optic gyroscope compass system searching for the north direction at the second position. Experiment proves that the preliminary design of the optical fiber gyro compass are able to find north direction and so as to achieve the desired objectives.
