Lean concrete is a good type of base material, which can meet the demand of large and heavy traffic. With laboratory test and theory analysis, structure design method of asphalt pavement with lean concrete base is systematically studied in the paper. Mechanics characteristic of lean concrete included strength & module, fatigue characteristic and shrinkage properties are studied and its pavement parameters are put forward. Based on the present research productions, Load stress and temperature stress of asphalt pavement with lean concrete base are additionally calculated and the influence of correlated factors is analyzed. Based on the analysis of reflective cracking occurrence and development, horizontal displacement on the joint of base is calculated. With elasticity theory, Avulsion to asphalt surface by that horizontal displacement is analyzed and with rupture mechanics theory, the developing rate of reflective cracking is analyzed. So, the reasonable thickness of asphalt surface can be found. Based on that, some measures to anti-crack are studied. Considered anti-crack for asphalt surface and split for lean concrete base, design standard of asphalt pavement with lean concrete base is developed. According to the fatigue equation of lean concrete, coefficient of axle load conversion of lean concrete is put forward. Finally, structure design method of asphalt pavement with lean concrete base is developed.
