Based on theories of hydraulic and nonlinear control system , this paper analyses the force of oil film in the hydro-viscous drive, and establishes its mathematic model. At the same time , the paper analyses in theory the towing torque , heat characteristic, and braking characteristic of the hydro-viscous brake . Also designs a new fashioned hydro-viscous brake used on belt conveyor . The proportional relief valve is used to adjust control the pressure of hydraulic oil , therefore controls the brake moment by adjusting the thickness of oil film . At the same time , its hydraulic pressure control system and electric control system are also designed .
