With the development of the power system reformation of town and country in China, 12kV metalclad withdraw switchgear are well used and developed in the electricity distribution system because of its characters of tight construction, maintenance convenience, high reliability ,long usage life and so on. At the same time, the electrical system continues to make progress to the orientation of big capacity, high voltage and small scale which make the insulation problem become more and more outstanding. While the insulation is usually the feeble tache of high voltage electric apparatus and a large part of malfunctions are brought by the destruction of insulation. So it is worth to researching the problem that how to rationally distribute generatrix , vacuum interrupter and other electric organs to make the better insulation cooperation and the design requirement with the highly reliable insulation property so that we can assure that the metalclad withdraw switchgear run safely in the distribution system and have smaller installation space.Up to now, regardless of product factories and customers there are no people have made theoretical calculation and analysis on insulation inter- phase and to ground of metalclad withdraw switchgear interrupter. It often resorts experiences and testing data in the design and production of the metalclad withdraw switchgear which arose huge wastes of manpower and material resources. And in this situation, the flashover and breakthrough disruption faults often happened which threaten to personal and equipments' safety.In this paper, we begin with actual products designs and then combine the real conditions. On condition that technique conditionsrequirements were satisfied, by adopting electromagnetic field numerical analysis and experimental research, the electric field distribution inter-phase and to ground of 12kV metalclad withdraw switchgear vacuum circuit breaker is described accurately. The electric field distribution and movement in different conditions are also confirmed. The insulation of products is checked and verified throughout theoretical calculation and analysis. Then we get the rational construction and make the best insulation cooperation by comparing lots of methods, so that the theoretical basis is presented to the exploitation and design of actual products.
