Culvert under high-stack soil is a ubiquitous phenomena in road constructions in mountain, self-compression of high-stack soil can not be ignored, soil pressure at the top of culvert is affected by many factors, including the height of high-stack soil, section size of culvert, width of the bottom of valley, grade of valley, property of filled soil, construction procedure and techniques. Too much embankment of filled soil will result the destroy of road surface or instability of high-stack soil; soil pressure at the top of culvert is the key parameter of culvert structure design, more or less of the parameter will result in economic waste or failure of structure. There is not a unified formula in calculating at present, so it is a press for solving.Through the centrifuge modeling and program of FLAC, the paper discusses the distributing character of embankment of high-stack soil and the factors, which affect soil pressure at the top of culvert, drawing the following conclusions.1. On the bases of some basic suppositions, Terzaghi's one dimensional consolidation and principles of layered summation method, the paper draw the formula which can calculate the embankment of layered filling and take the formula into programme;2. Building the finite difference model of layered high-stack soil, carrying out numerical simulation of construction sequence, construction velocity, interface element of layer-stacked, the author get the numerical solution. Through discussion of numerical solution, the author get the effect of height of filled soil, size of culvert, width of valley, property of filled soil, construction procedure and techniques on soil stress of the culvert top;3. Through the centrifuge test, the paper validates the reliability of numerical calculating on high-stack soil;4. The paper puts forward the simplified calculating method of soil stress of the culvert top on the foundation of numerical simulating and centrifuge modeling.Through the research of theory, centrifuge test and numerical simulating, the paper brings forward the evidences in theory for the design and construction of high-stack soil, so the paper is valuable in engineering application.
