Culvert projects has been widely used in the areas of water conservancy, highway, railway, energy, metallurgy and municipal administration. With the rapid development of economy and the construction of large-scale water conservancy projects, the number of culvert keeps increasing. The proportions of engineering quantity and construction cost are all keeping increase. Now the calculation methods of soil pressure have not yet been fully considered all the influencing factors, many calculation theories only focus on the impact of soil on culvert and ignore the deformation of culvert structure that influence the numerical value and distribution of soil pressure. Grasping the law of deformation of culvert correctly and regarding culvert as a unified system with the soil have very important theoretical and practical significance to perfecting design theory, guiding project construction and exploring load lightening methods. In this paper, by using the ANSYS finite element numerical simulation technology and contrasting the results with rigid culvert, discusses the soil pressure on culvert influenced by the deformation of culvert in detail. The main conclusions and results as follow:(1)The height of equal settlement plane of positive buried circular culvert decreases with the deformation of culvert increasing. Compared with the rigid circular culvert, when the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is equal to0.8、0.28and0.05, the height ratio of equal settlement plane decreases by about5%、15%and22%.(2) The deformation of positive buried circular culvert has greater influence to the distribution of vertical soil pressure. When the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is bigger than0.28, the vertical soil pressure on both sides is smaller and on middle is bigger, the coefficient of vertical soil pressure is bigger than1with different backfill depth. When the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is equal to0.28, the vertical soil pressure is approximately horizontal distribution, the coefficient of vertical soil pressure is almost equal to1with different backfill depth. When the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is smaller than0.28, the vertical soil pressure on both sides is bigger and on middle is smaller, the coefficient of vertical soil pressure is smaller than1with different backfill depth. The coefficient of vertical soil pressure decreases with deformation of positive buried circular culvert increasing. Compared with the rigid circular culvert, when the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is equal to0.28,the coefficient of vertical soil pressure decreases by about35%; when the coefficient of stiffness of steel tube relative to soil is equal to0.05,the coefficient of vertical soil pressure decreases by about43%.(3) The height of equal settlement plane of positive buried box culvert decreases with the deformation of culvert increasing. Compared with the rigid box culvert, the height ratio of equal settlement plane of culvert made of concrete (the strength grade is C30) decreases by about9%.(4) The deformation of positive buried box culvert has almost no influence to the distribution of vertical soil pressure, the vertical soil pressure on both sides is bigger and on middle is smaller. The vertical soil pressure on the middle of the roof decreases and on the side of the roof increases with the deformation of culvert increasing. The coefficient of vertical soil pressure decreases with deformation of positive buried box culvert increasing. Compared with the rigid box culvert, the coefficient of vertical soil pressure of culvert made of concrete (the strength grade is C30) decreases by about11%.
