In this paper, aim at the condition that the large-acreage contamination flashover happened many times in electric network in south of Hebei province under bad weather, the cause of the five large- acreage contamination flashover is analyzed from such ways as the insulated level of power transformation device, air pollution, meteorologic factor and so forth. The characteristic of the composite insulators, RTV covering material and auxiliary umbrella skirt is studied. The principle of selecting insulators is determined. A suggestion about the use of compound insulators, RTV covering material and auxiliary umbrella skirt is put forward. The advantage and disadvantage of two kinds of principle of the external insulation configuration using contamination tolerance voltage and the rate of distance of voltage creepage is analyzed. The principles and measures of external insulation configuration of power transformation device is put forward at the present time. The technical measure against contamination flashover of power transmission and transformation device in electric network in south of hebei province is studied and determined. These method have a good effect in practice.
