In China, the loss of 10kv distribution system is about half of all network power losses. And it is valuable to find an effective method of reducing power loss by reactive compensation in distribution network.The thesis mainly studies optimal reactive power in lOkv distribution system on the base of all factors that can be chosen to distribution network's renovation. The study chooses three typical lOkv distribution networks. Firstly it analyzes the network. Through power flow calculation, the analysis is deepening. Secondly it calculates and gives the result of three methods' effects. Thirdly it discusses how to optimize reactive power. At last, it gives conclusion according to all these calculation's results.The results are very valuable to Chinese lOkv distribution network's renovation nowadays, and the method in this thesis can be used in practice.
