Medium voltage distribution network is an important part of.distribution system. The reactive power Optimization of medium voltage distribution line is an important means to reduce the line loss, improve voltage quality. With the increase of reactive power load, Merely by providing reactive power,power supply to the load on the reactive, can cause power loss, voltage quality. In order to ensure the security, economy of distribution network, as well as to meet the power quality, the reasonable allocation of reactive power is particularly important. Study on reactive power optimization of distribution network can be based on actual needs, selecting the appropriate reactive power allocation, but also can improve the management level of the distribution network reactive power, bringing direct economic benefits.Reactive power optimization of distribution network is a mixed nonlinear optimization problem, which contains multiple targets and multiple constraints. Considering the distribution lines’s economy,using the network loss and reactive power compensation device of the system to be the additional cost, the node power conservation and node voltage, reactive power compensation capacity constraints, to solve the optimization model. Using the methods of random fault branch division, in the region by using reactive load moment minimum to determine the reactive power compensation, and the application of Dijkstra algorithm is used to solve the reactive load moment. Ultimately determine the reactive power compensation capacity and compensation of different partition mode, the corresponding program is compiled with MATLAB, the objective function is chosen as the objective function, the minimum reactive power optimization. Finally, through the examples to verify the optimization method, the calculation results show that, the algorithm can in less investment circumstances, bringing greater economic benefits to distribution line.
