Tibetan Architecture is an important system in Chinese architectural culture. Studying Tibetan Architecture can help us to recognize the influence of Buddhism to architecture , the character of mountain building, enlighten the design of modern houses, direct the touring subject of Tibet.The nature of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is unique: the elevation is very high; many great mountains; strong wind and hard cold; lack of oxygen and water. These conditions decide some cardinal character of Tibetan Architecture: the tents have the flexibility of stretch-force structure; the blockhouses are strong and conservative with roof-windows, have many stories to spare the land; the houses fit for the terrain perfectly.The society of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is also unique: it is between two old great civilizations; it has relatively conservative environment and it had been reigned by Buddhism for about 800 years. So, Tibetan houses often have a center-temples; joss-room locates in the best space in a building; the planning of superior houses are always coherent with the rules of religion.Tibetan Architecture is a rational system, different from Indian Architecture; it is also a mountain-based , three-dimension-construction system, different from the building of Han nation.According to the rules of Tibetan Architecture, the planning of Naidong Cultural Touring Subject respects the plants and plains in the site, tries to inherit and develop Tibetan Architecture.
