The Waterfront Landscape Design In Suzhou Urban Planning

Along with the development of social economy, local government and more and more people gradually realize the importance of the waterfront area in sense of the development of the city itself, which becomes a highlight in urban construction. This paper schematically summarizes the driving factors of such development, the elements of any successful development, and the principles of waterfront area planning, which can be implemented in practice. In this paper, two typical waterfront landscape projects in distinguishing locations are given as examples to detail these key points of the paper, one is the Suzhou city moat landscape design project and another one is the Jinji Lake landscape design project. Due to their distinguishing locations of these two projects, the design ideas and design treatment are differently implemented, which are more concerned about the different nature of the old city and the Industrial Park respectively as to lead to the specific waterfront landscape design. The exploitation of the waterfront area is a comprehensive project. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this article is just to explore the trend of the waterfront landscape planning as well as some specific treatments of the waterfront landscape design by testing some existing waterfront landscape projects.
