With the construction of Three Gorges Dam Changjiang River, a huge reservoir of more than 600 km long from YiChang city downstream to Chongqing city upstream will come into being. It will change the hydraulic conditions of the river, such as widening the water surface, decreasing water-flow velocity and purification capacity of water body in reservoir area Meanwhile, many problem will be encountered, such as a large quantities of pollution in cities and towns, harmful matters in pesticide and fertilizer in reservoir area, poisonous pollutants in rainfall, accidental discharge of municipal wastewater or industrial sewage, limits of low economic level and urbanization etc.. The water environment problem of the urban water supply in the reservoir area is increasing greatly.The uprising of water level will immerge the water supply installation of some towns, which cause some bad effects to present water supply system.Meanwhile, with the implementation of the big development of the west china, the acceleration of social development and city construction, increase of the population, adjustment of economy framework, improvement of living level of, the quality and the quantity of urban water supply will increase greatly.There are so many problems in the construction and operation of the urban water supply system, the aggravation of the contradiction between demand and supply; so, it is necessary to study the sustainable development of city water supply.The purpose of the thesis is to study the city-water supply in Three Gorges reservoir areas. According to investigation and a systematic view, the paper analyzes the main reasons of city-water supply. The thesis not only suggests effective methods of resolving water supply and policy measures, but also brings about some technological measures, water supply system in view of sustainable development. The main contents are as the follows.1. Strengthen the treatment of municipal wastewater treatment in reservoir areas. Execute the standard of wastewater drainage strictly. Prevent the degradation of water environment and pollution of water quality in reservoir areas.2. Planning city-water resources reasonably. Carry out the developing system by the combine of surface water and ground water. Make use of ground water having good quality as much as possible. When selecting the water resources, the changing tendencyof water quality should be predicted scientifically. On the other hand, city-water resources should be planned reasonably, and the regional water supply plants should be researched and carried out.3. Adopt advanced process of water supply actively. Reform the process of water production, optimize the process and facilities of water production. Improve the latent treatment ability. Adopt advanced process of water supply in order to lower the treatment cost per water quantity of cubic meter.4. Applying new technology, strengthening scientific management. Popularize the system of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) in reservoir areas in order to realize the automatic control and scientific management for city-water supply, and decrease the problems of the operation for pipeline.5. Research and practice the reasonable price of water. Reduce the consumption of natural resource, and reduction quantity of the city wastewater.6. Advocate water-save and energy-save. Popularize the sanitary implements, which have the ability of water-save. Using the technology of adjusting-velocity to pump for saving the energy consumption.7. Construct the system of using water resource united. Forbid the water management from many-side.8. Make out or revise the law, standard or norm etc..
