In the last few years, China has ploughed plentiful capital into carrying out urban power network renovation engineering, so as to improve power supply ability of electric power system and safe economy running. Where, the construction of distribution power system has become an opera with much singing and acting in electric power construction. Therefore, it is very necessary to evaluate reliability and economic worth of distribution power system.The reliability evaluation of distribution system is used for evaluating indexes of the load points and system. Nowadays with the rapid development of society, the demand for power- supply reliability of distribution power systems becomes higher and higher, so we need describing the reliability indices of distribution power systems clearly and systemically. In this thesis, basic formulas and indices of reliability evaluation suitable for researching status about distribution power network in our country is established at first. Secondly, Next, reliability evaluation methods of a power distribution network have been researched, including some main popular analytical and simulation methods. Their advantages, disadvantages and application situation are also compared. The development trend of reliability evaluation has been predicted. Finally, we further research some problems whichappear in the economic evaluation of urban power network renovation, that is, how to determine and calculate the discount rate, the internal rate of return (IRR), the profit from urban power network renovation and the rising of electricity price, are presented.The scientific basis to the evaluation of urban power network reliability and economic after the renovation of distribution power system is provided based on the research work in this thesis. It has considerably practical value.
