Based on the trial-section of Wenzhou rural highway, combined with series of indoor tests and on spot tests and a great deal of theoretical arithmetic, the paper studies on the following aspects: the riding quality of raw materials( including asphalt, modified asphalt, aggregate), the mix design and test of asphalt(modified asphalt) concrete, the test of mechanical properties of asphalt concrete pavement in place, and the mechanical calculate of road pavement. The effective density of basalt is the emphases of the research of aggregate, the effective density of aggregate is a very important factor in mix design for asphalt concrete, but the method how to get it is much more difficult than to get the apparent density or the bulk density of aggregate, we get a statistical formula to get the effective density by the apparent density and the bulk density.By the research of homemade asphalt (modified asphalt) used on the trial-section, we get the requirements that asphalt should meet to when used in the region of littoral of Zhejiang province.By the research of porosity, degree of compaction and the Marshall test of asphalt concrete, we elicit that the best thickness of asphalt film for AC-25 is about 9 μ m, and for AC-16 is about 8μm, and for AC-13 is about 8μm.By series of linear and nonlinear mechanical analysis of the road pavement, and together with series of plate-bearing test and stress test in place, we elicit that Marshall mix design method is not fitful for asphalt pavement design. The mechanical property between the asphalt layers is a problem of contact. The contact nonlinear finite element method can get more credible solution than linear finite element method or Layer Theory does.
