The air preheater is one of the most widely used facility to save ernegy in power plant. Eight Type PB л-9.8 air preheaters have been installed in Tianjin Panshan power plant. Spindle of #22 air preheater was fractured because of disfigurement on design. In this paper, using the super FEM analysis software ANSYS ,the reason for spindle fracturing is studied deeply and the improved scheme is put forward .In this paper, spindle FEM computation model taking solid as basic unit is established. Based on this model, firstly, static stress is analyzed and the stress distribution of spindle under various static woking condition is attained; secondly, transient analysis is carried out . In terms of the FEM computation results and practical working enviorment of spindle ,the reason for fracturing is analyzed.At the same time ,the suggestion for the same type of the air preheater is brought forward.
