The development about a lot of protection measure to synchronous motor and many kinds of protection device inside and outside our country have been investigated in this thesis, and moreover, a microcomputer protection device for large-scale synchronous motor have been designed in this thesis. The device can protect the large-scale synchronous motor perfectly.The protection device makes the mature theory such as the over-current value detection, symmetrical component principle and so on as protection criterions and uses the advanced digital signal processor in the device. An inverse time-lag operating equation with accumulating stator current is achieved in this paper, according to the heating of the motor. The equation represents the thermal condition of the induction motor really. Some measure function which is needed for the synchronous motor protection device is designed in this paper.
