Finite element method (FEM) occupies an important part in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) methods. With the development of both hardware and software in the areas of Modern Mechanics, Calculating Mathematics and Computer Technology, FEM analysis sees a great progress obtained on FEM theories as well as its application so that the method has been widely applied in a variety of industrial fields like railway, petroleum industry, aviation, machinery manufacturing, transportation, architecture, shipbuilding, etc. Finite element method has become one of the most popular and efficient numerical analysis methods in engineering structure analysis.Finite element method has been introduced in the ship structural intensity analysis since long time ago, and it has been widely used after the long-term accumulation. Along with the current trend of large-scale and specialized ships, plus the emergence of new ships and the application of new materials, finite element method has played an important role in ship designing as well as shipbuilding.Users of FEA software are required to master professional knowledge with a lot of time spent on creating and modifying FEA models when applying this software to design and calculate ship structure. In this paper, the author presented a template analysis method based on parameterized that can adjusted the FEA model by parameters. In order to enhance analyzing efficiency, an inventory parameter-adjusting interface has been developed on the basis of Visual Basic, by which launching and packaging FEA software-ANSYS are realized. In this paper, a parameterized FEA program to analyze container ship hull structure is developed, of which the feasibility has been validated by a real ship model. This paper consists of six chapters. In chapter one, the author introduces and analyzes the research status as well as the existing methods in this field, and presents the purpose and significance of conducting the research. Then thedevelopment of container ship and its characteristics of transport, structure and mechanics are discussed in chapter two. In chapter three, the author introduces traits of FEA software -ANSYS, ANSYS parametric design language (APDL), and defines the process and functions of parameterized template of container ships based on Visual Basic. According to the basic idea of parameterized design, a parameterized template program is presented on the basis of ship strength direct calculating method and container ships' features in chapter four. Data from real ship models, in chapter five, are applied in the program to validate its feasibility. And the last chapter, the author summarizes the whole paper and establishes a further vision on the solution to existing problems.
