Studies On High Performance Polymer Cement Based Waterproofing Coating

The polymer modified cement based waterproofing coating was the 'green' environmental protection material, which represented one aspect of the waterproofing materials' progress. But the problem of their resistance to water and durability existed, and it was not used in the first waterproofing roofing and the important waterproofing work. In order to develop the high performance polymer modified cement based waterproofing coating, cross-linking modification and nanometer modification were used to improve its performance based on the research of the relationship of its structure and performance in this paper. The microstructure of the waterproofing films was analysised by SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD and FTIR, and its mechanical property, ageing performance and resistance to water were studied. The principal research conclusions were as following:The proportion of polymer and cement greatly affects the structure and performance of the polymer modified cement based waterproofing coating. When the proportion of polymer and cement is high, the continuous phase is made up of polymer, the inorganic particles are dispersed in the polymer phrase, so the films have good extensional performance and low temperature flexibility; when its proportion is low, the hydrated cement forms the local rigid gel network, so extensional performance and low temperature flexibility of films reduce obviously, but the resistance to water, ultraviolet and thermal ageing of films is improved.The mechanical properties and the resistance to water and heat of the polymer modified cement based waterproofing coating are greatly improved by the synthesized melamine resin. But when the content of the cross-linking agent is 1~3%, it is suitable. When its use level is too much, the performance of coating is greatly reduced because of too much cross linkage.The organic-MMT modified polyacrylate emulsion was prepared by emulsion intercalation, which the cement based waterproofing coating was modified by, which had the good mechanical property, the good ageing performance and the good resistance to water. When the content of organic-MMT reached 3%, the waterproofing coatings had the best performance.The polyacrylate emulsion modified by the nano-silica which was grafted with PEG-400 was prepared, which the cement based waterproofing coating was modified by, which had the notable resistance to ultraviolet and the good resistant to heat. When the content of nano-silica reached 1.0%, the waterproofing coatings had the best performance.The organic-MMT and melamine resin compound modification and the organic-MMT and organic nano-SiO2 compound modification were studied. The results show that the tensile-strength and the resistance to water, to ultraviolet and to heat of compound modified waterproofing films exceed their of single modified waterproofing films.
