Pedestrian is one important part of traffic system, especially at intersections where the pedestrian is very crowded. Many conflicts among pedestrians, vehicles and bicycles flow exists, which increase delay and decreases capacity of the intersections. In addition, from the prospect of traffic safety, pedestrian is easy to be injured at the traffic conflicting points. In the paper, pedestrian in crosswalks at signalized intersections was studied using electronic stopwatch and advanced GPS , video technique. This paper is made up of the following parts. Characteristics of pedestrian walking speed, pedestrian start-up time and acceleration/deceleration, pedestrian-vehicle confliction, pedestrian traffic model.In the parts of pedestrian walking speed characteristic and pedestrian start-up time and acceleration/deceleration characteristic, the characteristics is analyzed under different factors, such as the type of the intersection, pedestrian sex and age, pedestrian attention level. Based on many survey data the paper puts forward overall distribution characteristics of pedestrian walking speed, start-up time and acceleration /deceleration in Beijing.In the process of studying pedestrian-vehicle conflict, conflict characteristic was divided into several sorts according to several conflicting flows. Based on the binary Logit model, this paper describes the behaviors that the pedestrian choose the acceptance gap, in the same time using the regressive analysis method, this paper also calibrates the impacting coefficient of the vehicle headway time, pedestrian waiting time and pedestrian number to the behaviors of pedestrian choosing the gap. In the end, through validation, this paper proves the model has good fitness and 85% precision.In the part of pedestrian flow model, pedestrian was divided into two types : those who are in working purpose and those who are in shopping purpose by their travel purposes. According to the model of a quadratic polynomial, this paper builds a pedestrian traffic flow statistical model and finally gives the pedestrian capacity of crosswalk based on the statistical model in Beijing.
