Studies On Capacity Of Pedestrian In Crosswalk At Signalized Intersection In Urban

The idea of "Bus Priority,people-centered, green traffic" is the main themes of the development of urban traffic, Pedestrian traffic is an important component in the traffic system and getting more and more people's attention.By using manpower observation,video-capture technology, This paper that target at pedestrians of the crosswalk in the signalized intersection, mainly discuss following questions: the method of obtaining pedestrian track coordinates by using video software,the main characteristics of pedestrian in crosswalk at signalized intersection and the calculation model of the capacity of in crosswalk based on the theory of fluid mechanics.Presenting a method of how to obtain the coordinate data of Pedestrians track by using video software and the values of the parameters of pedestrians.In the traffic characteristics study of pedestrian, mainly discussed following information of the business signalized intersections: the rule of arriving pedestrians, the queuing density of crowds, startup time of single pedestrian, startup time of pedestrian crowds and the pedestrians'walking speed. All the characteristic parameters can be fixed on the measured data, also the parameters that obeyed the model are verified. In the study, it takes into account different factors that affected the speed of the pedestrians, and analyses the related causes.In the calculation model of capacity in crosswalk, discussed capacity of crosswalk in following lines: analysis of pedestrian traffic characteristics- Establishment of fluid mechanics model of pedestrian traffic flow–according to the measured data, simplifying the model-solving model, obtaining the capacity formula of pedestrian traffic flow-calculating the value of the capacity model in crosswalk of ITC intersection– comparing with the values of other pedestrian capacity model. Obtaining following rules:First, obtaining the rule of the crosswalk capacity with the disappearance of the green time at signalized Intersection; as the disappearance of the green time, the crosswalk capacity in each interval will reduce untill it equal to the value of the arriving pedestrians flow;Second, Obtaining the effective crossing green time of pedestrian is 35s in ITC intersection, when the effective green time is more than 35 s, the increase of capacity will tend to be an invariable valued. Third, obtaining the value of crosswalk capacity in pedestrian model based on the theory of fluid mechanics, that is consistent with the average statistical of maximum flow rate.Pedestrian traffic in Crosswalk at signalized intersection is the basis of pedestrian traffic, it has important significance in following aspects:Improving theory of pedestrian traffic flow, reducing pedestrian accidents, increasing capacity of crosswalk, reducing traffic delays,enhancing the city's transport efficiency and ensuring safety.
