Comparison Study On The Representative Pattern Between The "Palace-style" Dwelling In Quanzhou And The Quadrangle In Beijing

The "palace-style" dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing ,the former lies on the southeast of Fujian province in china, which is the architectural representation of " five-orientation " space image mode; the latter lies on the north of china, which is the architectural representation of "nine-orientation" space image mode. Because the "five-orientation" and the "nine-orientation" are the basic space-time conception of Chinese, the "palace-style" dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing are all the important types of folk residence in south-north china. There are the great meaning in comparison with two style of folk residence.The comparison through the representative pattern in the folk residence, for the " three-bays, two-depths " " five-bays, two-depths " of the " palace-style " dwelling in Quanzhou; the "seven-bays, two-depths" "seven-bays, three-depths" of the quadrangle in Beijing.The thesis analyses through four aspects: History background, Plan form-system, Truss system and Elevation style character, Space image mode. The main points of the thesis are as follows:1. The comparison of environmental climate, history background such as society progress and population immigration between the "palace-style" dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing.2. The comparison of Plan form-system between the" palace-style "dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing. Meanwhile, comparing the atrium of the"palace-style" dwelling in Quanzhou with the garth of the quadrangle in Beijing.3. The comparison of truss system and elevation style character between the " palace-style " dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing. The "red-brick" culture and the "cyan-brick" culture respectively show the differentstyle between Quanzhou and Beijing.4. The comparison of space image mode between the "palace-style" dwelling in Quanzhou and the quadrangle in Beijing. And introducing two concepts as understanding the folk residence in china, which are "Chi space" and "Brightness Space" .
