City Square Design--The Application Of Stone Materials In City Square Design

City squares, the living rooms of cities, are the important spatial parts of cities, representing the walking space of people in cities. City square has two most charming factors: one is the colorful emotional spaces and the other is the rich cultural artistic connotations. Materials is the material foundation in square building. Stone is one of the important materials in square design and is widely used today. The application of stone materials in city square design will be mainly discussed in this paper.1. The analysis of the essential qualities, such as the emotional, physical and chemical, dynamic traits, and superficial manufacturing technology of granites and natural stones are conducted in this paper, through which the limitations and the material decisive factors of the application of granites and natural stones in square building are expected to be revealed.2.The qualities, colors, and manifestation styles of stone materials are analyzed. The application of stone materials in paving, roads, elevation, and water scene is mainly discussed. The application of stone materials combined with other materials is also discussed. Detailed implications are illustrated by examples.3.Building materials plays a decisive role in the emotional manifestation in square design. The general rules of materials emotional manifestation in square space are revealed by the analysis of different characteristics of materials used in different types of squares.The application and the manifestation styles of stone materials in city square design are mainly analyzed and displayed by pictures and other relevant examples in this paper and the theoretical guidance for city squares design is expected to be provided.
