This project deals with the reliability study of the transmission system for ball mill. After a careful analysis of the performance of the ball mill transmission system in the thermal-electrical power plant a Fault Tree is built up and the life distribution functions of the basic units are got through linear regression analysis. All the Minimum Cut Sets are got by qualitative analysis of the FT; The life distribution function of the transmission system was obtained through the digital simulation of the FT and the other elements attained are the basic unit importance and the mode importance of the basic units; This paper also has analyzed the reasons for the breakage of the transmission shaft in the gear box and the transmission shaft bearing seat, and for the vibration of the gear.
