With the construction of distribution network in our country, distribution network especially urban distribution network has gotten very great development. The feeder becomes longer, the number of its node becomes huger and its configuration becomes complex, and the distribution equipment has has very strong automatic functions. Because the distribution network faces the user directly, the dependability and security impact on user. If we can locate the fault section rapidly and accurately when fault occuring, we can isolate the faulut area, resume the power supply for the unaffected area, decrease the power cutted area and bring out great economic benefits. This paper does research in distribution network fault section location based on the characteristics of distribution automatic technologies of our country. Directed against the distributing fault disposing mode and centralizing fault disposing mode of distribution distribution feeder automation, we use two different research methods respectively. Under the distributing fault disposing mode,combined with the technological ameliorate of the applying PLC in the switch control department of the urban distribution ring feeder, we design a new voltage-current feeder automation flow executing by recloses and sectionnalizers controlled by PLC to locate the distribution feeder fault section. Under distributing fault centralizing mode,constucting the mathematic mode of distribution network based on the theory of structure variable dissipated network. Structure variable dissipated network is a new algorithm which can actualize distribution automation efficiently. The key process of the algorithm,called nodes transforming to arcs,is based on the calculation loads of coupling nodes and arcs loads from the loads of switch nodes.Getting the area of coupling nodes is the most important process in nodes transforming to arcs.This paper presents a new method,which uses the adjacency matrix of distribution network and the information matrix ofcoupling nodes to get the criterion matrix.It is easy to get the number of coupling nodes areas and separate them from the distribution network. Describing the topology of distribution network by adjacency matrix, we do some research on the algorithms of separating coupling node area from distribution network based on adjacency matrix and uncoupling the topology of distribution network equivalently. These algorithms are proved to be correct and can be actualized easy by the fault section location soft rapidly.
