Vehicle plays more important role in people's daily life. The measurement of the velocity parameter is the subject on which people focus greatly. This paper makes a attempt that the measurement systems of the velocity parameter is to adapt the development of the new science and technology and people's increasing demand.The paper chooses the velocity measurement as the major content. It puts forward a new method of velocity measurement which applies to correlation function. Then the method is realized and testified by hardware and software.In chapter 3, the paper introduces the principle of measuring velocity by correlation method and puts forward the standards of choosing several parameters. In the chapter 4 the characters of the Si-Electric Eye are introduced. Then according to the characters, the hardware configuration of the velocity measurement systems is discussed in details. The design and realization of data-analysis were discussed in Chapter 5. The correlate function which realized by using FFT is the core of software analysis. The results of data-analysis is testified by using MATLAB. Last chapter the paper makes a conclusion and gives some proposes about advancing the systems further more.In this paper a new method, i.e., velocity measurement by applying correlation arithmetic, is investigated to the velocity measurement and present. The method givesup the traditional velocity measurement by wheel and axle ,which includes errors in principle. And it can measure the absolute velocity that the vehicle relatives to the road.
