Synchronous generator excitation controller is a very important control equipment in power plant , it plays a key role to ensure electricity quality and . The traditional excitation control theory has not met the need of the more complicated electricity power system already, and nolinear excitation control theory offers a available way in solving this question.In this paper, after entirely introduction of the development of generator excitation control theory and compare of all kinds of excitation control method, the nolinear excitation control theory with using the differential coefficient geometry theory is presented and its shortage of lack of precision of voltage regulation is indicated. Combining traditional PID excitation control theory, the nolinear excitation control theory is improved effectively and the NEC+PID excitation control method is offered. By the simulation it has been indicated that the NEC+PID excitation control theory does not only keep the stability of generator in the transient process but also improves the precision of voltage regulation.To realize nolinear excitation controller, it must be improved that the disposal speed of nolinear excitation control' s signal. With analyzing and comparing all kinds of microcomputer excitation controller, A new microcomputer excitation control scheme is offered that is based on DSP controller while the CPLD chip is utilized for realizing the function of pulse trigger. It is described in detail that the method of realizing controllable silicon digital logic by verilog hardware describe language and the designed digital pulse trigger' s veracity was validated by digital simulation.In this paper, a new excitation control method isn' t only presented but also the microcomputer excitation controller is offered which is basedon DSP controller and CPLD. It solves the design problem of software and hardware of complex excitation system that has a good value of reference and application foreground.
