The development of the residence structure system going with the alteration and innovation of traditional building technique is one of pre-task in engineering at present with the policy about walling material and energy saving being popularized and the modernization of house being present. The traditional shear wall structure has such disadvantage as large self-weight,stiflhess and seismic forces,poor-ductility and energy saving. Based on the post investigation,this paper put forward a new type of hollow shear wall structure with seams.The seismic behavior and design method are investigated and following work on test and theory are done:Based on the pseudo-static test of two hollow shear walls with seams,the seismic behavior of the walls are researched. By low-cycle and reverse horizontal loading test ,the properties of the walls such as the degree of the cracking load,yield load and failure load,the property of hystersis curves and keleton-frame curves and the property of ductility.Based on the experimental data,this paper uses the ANSYS program to do nonlinear finite element analysis .By analyzing the two walls with nonlinear finite element method,this paper gets keleton-frame curves of the two walls. By comparing the data of the FEM and pseudo-static test ,the result show that load -deflection plots for specimens from the FEM is agree with the experimental data.The pseudo-dynamic test of 1/3-scale model six-story building assembled with hollow shear wall with seams.The internal forces,the deformation and the failure mechansm of the building under earthquake are studied.The rules of frequency ,damping and response spectrum are studied. The characters of earthquake response such as structure displacement, interstory drift, action of earthquake,the amplificatory coefficient of acceleration and the rule of strain are discussed. At last,this paper presented the design method of this structure based on the aseismic style and put forward the construction.
