Concrete small hollow block, which is in favor of environment and saving plantation, is a kind of wall material to substitute for clay block. It is not only lighter than brick wall in weight, which profit aseismic behavior of masonry wall, but also the speed of construction is quicker, which profit to shorten construction periods. Concrete small hollow block has been utilized as a kind of wall material for more than 30 years in China. Sufficient experience and fruit has been obtained in application, study and progress about hollow block. With the development of new masonry materials reform and architecture environment conception, masonry structure will progress rapid. But the crack is a bad factor which has restricted hollow block to comprehensive application and development of masonry structure.After consulting many literature and datum and referring to the production about crack of wall, basing on the problem of cracks in masonry structures, the paper summarizes the characteristic , the rule, and discusses deeply the factors on cracks of wall according to the contrast between the experiential formula and the limited element analysis on the temperature cracks and the sedimentation cracks. And this paper, basing on the research and the academic analysis in material , design and construction of concrete masonry structures wall, brings forward the academic foundation and the experiential analysis about the criterion. At the same time, it improves the application of concrete masonry structures in He Bei province and gives the new method of preventing cracks. The productions include:1.The investigation of crackss of masonry structures, the characteristic and the reason on cracks of wall;2.The limited element analysis about datum of brick-wall the relation between the maximal stress in wall and the relative sedimentation of foundations, the relation between the cracks form in wall and inner stress, the validity of limited element mode;3.The limited element analysis about the relative sedimentation of foundations, the influence of ratio of length and height , foundations rigidity , groundsill rigidity on the inner stress in wall;4.The limited element analysis about the influence of temperature on wall cracks and the influence of space between extension cracks ,difference in temperature on the inner stress in wall;5.The analysis about the cracks rule because of temperature, the contrast between the result and the simulant result;6.The study about the influence of cracks of masonry structures because of constriction stress, the experience of dealing with constriction cracks in the domestic and the foreign;7.The advice of avoiding cracks because of the asymmetric sedimentation temperature , constringency in design and construction.
