The direct-reading instrument is still used widely because of their simplicity in structure and convenience in use cheapness in price, However, it takes inspector a lot of time and energy to calibrate a dial instrument. Appling technology of Image Processing on the calibration of dial instrument and realizing automation, it would save time and energy, and it would improve the veracity of the measurement result and improve the efficiency of work. This paper introduces the developing and applying of technology of Image Processing, puts forward the project about the automatic calibration of dial instrument based on Image Processing, studies the correlation arithmetic about the digital image processing and brings forward the new arithmetic of determining line parameter, which is the least squares fit based on maximum likelihood estimate, and puts forward the method called distance discrimination. All of these prove the precise of the result of the measurement.
