Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) takes an important role in Automatic Transmissions, due to its high efficiency,low cost and easiness to manufacture. With the development of Electrical technology, Computer technology and Automation technology ,The functions of AMT tend to be perfect. At the same time ,the integr-ative control of AMT powertrain should be necessary to improve the vehicle comfort In this paper, the task course of engine,clutch and transmission are analyzed for the improvement of vehicle performance. Also this will prepare for the further research of unite control of vehicle power train .In chapter one,process of AMT development are briefly investigated. The feature and configuration of AMT are also introduced. Based on these ,the future of AMT are forecasted.In chapter two,gasline engine are systematically introduced. First,two vital factors that greatly affect the engine performance are Air Fuel Ratio and Ignition Advance Angel ,they are introduced and give the control methods. Then the steady engine model and the dynamic engine model are also established through math expressions. Changing AFR and IAA will have some effort on engine output,that will be testified by an engine dynamic model based on Crossley-Cook model. Finally, because the Electronic Throttle Control System have been an effective method of controlling Gasline Engine, a model based on MATLAB/Simulink software simulate the control system and prove that some time lag exist in the engine output when the throttle are rapidly opened.In chapter three, the engagement period of AMT's dry friction clutch are modeled and simulated. First, property of dry friction clutch is discussed. Then some regulation during clutch engagement are summarized .the ratio of clutch engagement and displacement of clutch engagement greatly affect the shift quality. So how to evaluate the shift quality is a problem. In this paper, some value functions are listed and are given some proportion in quality function . Both vehicle load torque and engine indicate torque are identified in order to improve the quality of clutch control and engine control .Now is the emphases of this paper. During the shift period the clutch engagement is essential and the clutch engagement curve should be controlled. Engine speed curves and vehicle speed curve are plotted during this simulation . By evaluating both the shock and clutch life the optimal control method is introduced to solve the clutch engagement equations. Finally the power train model is built up and tested to show the clutch engagement period and speeds variation.In chapter four, the transmission's shifting period are modeled . In common cases The clutch will participate the shift, so the first step is to model power train when clutch begin to depart. When clutch completely depart the synchronizer begin to depart. After the synchronization the clutch begin to engage again. All these period are modeled by math equations. In second part the gearshift rules are discussed .At last, the gearshift by engine control is modeled and analyzed.In chapter five, CAN network and its application in AMT are discussed.First thefeature of CAN network are briefly classified and the data flow transferring in CAN are also listed .During AMT operation the Transmission Control Unit always communicate with other control unit such as Engine Control Unit and ABS control unit, so some sensor can be used by several control unit and reduce the cost of vehicle. Also the software and control orders are introduced. Finally communications between ECU and TCU are displayed and explained .this will be the necessary part of united control of AMT power train.In last chapter the whole dissertation is summarized, elaborating its main research achievements.Summarily, theoretical analysis and model simulations presented in this dissertation can be useful to improve the AMT performance , and can be essential to promote the united control of AMT power train.
