The foundation brake rigging transmission efficiency is a significant parameter for the brake system design. Until this time, the dynamic efficiency is still assessed on the basis of the static one. Yet, since the static efficiency disaccords to the dynamic actual, which brings very great hardships to the brake system design, the study of the dynamic efficiency is also extremely urgent. On the basis of experiments and experiences past, a variety of available schemes of measurement was analyzed and compared. And an available scheme of force transducer on brake shoe was designed at last. By means of this type of transducer, the brake rigging static efficiency was measured. The mathematical models of the static efficiency distribution and of the static efficiency were established to analyze the characteristics of the applied force on brake shoes and the relationship between static efficiency and the dynamic one. Subsequently, the dynamically simulated tests were conducted on the full-scale brake dynamometer, to examine the functional effects of that system in the dynamic operational conditions. The suitability of the spectrum analysis for the dynamic measurement data was also verified. Finally, some suggestions for the modification of dynamic measuring method were put forward.
