Research On Evolution Of Qiang Nationality's Settlement In The Lower Reaches Of Zagunao River

"Qiang" is a very old nationality distributed in upper reaches of the Minjiang River, called "lively fossil". People have paid close attention to Qiang's building and settlement. Taoping and Tonghua. located in the lower reaches of Zagunao River in Aba of Sichuan Province, have settlements in a good state of preservation.This thesis reappears the growing process of Qiang's settlement. By investigating and surveying in this area, a process of the settlement's evolution has been reached: choosing place-the 1st house-core part-whole village-primary group-middling group-higher loosely alliance. The settlement is developing in both space and time. It's not lonely. It gets in touch with other villages in different levels.This thesis analyses the relationship among these settlements, shows the system constructed by them, points out the order inside the system, suggests the opinion of protecting the whole system. This study provides a new way for Qiang nationality's architecture research.
