CAD/CAM as a multi-disciplinary technology, combined with computer science, information technology, modern manufacturing technology, play an important role. In promoting the level of design & manufacturing and the level of automation, accelerating new product development , shortening design and make cycle , guaranteeing product quality, improving production management level , economizing cost , strengthening market competitive power and enterprising innovation ability etc.In this paper, the research to compound gear air compressor CAD/CAM system two of three major modules, compound gear couple parameter design and typical part CAD module of compressor.The CAD/CAM of compound gear air compressor is based on Solid Works 2001 and Visual Basic 6.0 platform, combined with feature modeling technology, visual simulation technology. Have been used in volute compound gear couple design.Compound gear air compressor parameters design module is used to make feature body. Typical part CAD module includes typical parts feature parameters, the assembly-process from bottom to top, visual assembly-process and inspection, whole process simulation, explosion view of assembly-body, automatic engineering formulation of drawing, catching AVI Animator, and working simulation orbit.The system has practical and instructive effect on the development of personalization, striation and standardization for compound gear air compressor. And it will supply data to typical part CAD module.
