With the development of computer, networks, communication, and microelectronics technique, it has improved about the level of the integrated substation automation system of subway technology. During the evolution of that, many formal communication networks have appeared little by little, which have satisfied the need of different time and voltage rank substation automation system from serial communication to fieldbus and to Ethernert.This paper have designed a integrated substation automation of subway based on multilevel networks according to the characteristics of supervisory control of subway substation, which regarded Ethernet as the main networks to communicate in network-layer, while applied fieldbus or serial networks to communicate between and in the IED. A embedded gateway linked the Ethernet to fieldbus. The multilevel distribution structure which subway substation adopted guaranteed the reliability of communication of the device communication and the speed of networks communication. The paper, furthermore, has analyzed the reliability and real-time performance of the system from theory through mathematics model of reliability.The intelligent communication unit is the core of the whole integrated substation automation system of subway system. According to the characteristics of it, the paper has designed a embedded gateway with high performance, low cost, good reliability and real-time quality which based on S3C4510B. The work of this paper, has designed hardware and transplanted the real-time multitask Operation System-uC/OS-II to S3C4510B and TCP/IP protocol stack-LWIP to uC/OS- II. The paper also has make the implement of communication software, and analyzed the forming mechanism interfered mainly inside the subway substation. Fatherly, some anti-interference measures of hardware EMC have put forward.The new embedded intelligent communication unit has offered faster communication speed and stronger operation ability. It will enhance the communication capacity of the integrated automation system of subway substation, make the reliability of the system higher, and make the cost lower.
