Pyrolysis p rovides n ecessary v olatile fuels for ignition and fire s pread p rocesses. For t his reason, understanding the behavior and kinetics of pyrolysis is of key importance to modeling the ignition and fire spread processes.After a review of current research of pyrolysis and kinetic model by the domestic and oversea researchers firstly, this thesis covers the experimental and model research.This thesis gave the kinetic study on the pyrolysis of many kinds of biomass and textile. The effects of heating rate particle size and initial weight on pyrolysis process were investigated, and it's found that the heating rate has an important effect on the pyrolysis of samples, however the particle size and the final loss rate have no obvious effect on the characteristic temperatures. After that the thermolytic behavior observed for different materials in different atmosphere was described. In order to simulate the complex transformation of environment, a series of experiments were done on a thermalbalance with especial setting. At present, understanding the producing character and moving rule of smoke is of key importance to fire studying and prevention. Pyrolysis is an important step of the process in an unwanted fire, it's important to the phases of pyrogenation too. TG-FTIR analysis of 10 samples shows that the spectrograms of different samples are unlike.In this thesis, the kinetic models of samples were brought forward and the dynamic parameters of the samples were obtained. Pseudo Component kinetic Model of biomass was brought forward too. This work also studied the kinetic compensation effect, although this mechanism has not been clarity now.
