In the southeast coastal area of our country, the deep soft soil of the marine deposit are distributed extensively, which brings a lot of difficulties to design and construction of the foundation works of sea embankment because of low intensity and large deformation of the soft soil. According to the reality of project to the west sea embankment of Shenzhen, the problems of sea embankment on soft ground are researched in this paper, such as the reinforcement measure, settlement after construction, stability, etc, and achievements is obtained, which can provide reference for construction of similar projects.Based on the theory of Biot consolidation and visco elastic plasticity, the finite element model is constructed, and the corresponding finite element computer procedures are compiled at the same time, then the regularity of the stress and the strain of the sea embankment are analyzed. Two kinds of measures of reinforcement are adopted in project, namely lithosol sludge-pressing and deep mixed pile. According to result of calculation the consolidation settlement deformation and the rheologic deformation of the sea embankments strengthened by corresponding measures are per-estimated, and the rationality of the reinforcement are confirmed.In the calculation of the stability of sea embankment, limit-equilibrium method and plastic limit analysis method are employed. Used STAB and the upper and lower bound limit analysis program, the safety factors against sliding of the sea embankments under all work conditions are evaluated , and the results obtained from two methods compared each other.
