Solar radiation has many effects in buildings such as building's thermal environment, energy consumption in heating and air conditioning, light and microclimate around the buildings. In heating and air conditioning system design, solar radiation has important effects in the load of heating and air conditioning. Therefore, good shading is the method of energy saving in the field of HVAC.There are numerous ways in shading. And it can be concluded into three categories: shading by using plants, shading by using building components and artificial shading. Artificial shading include horizontal outside shading, vertical outside shading, blind inside shading, knock-down blind outside shading, etc. Shade is one kind of horizontal outside shading. In my thesis, I set up a small weather database according to analysis and simulation of weather data of typical weather year in Tianjin which is based on about 20 years' weather data. Furthermore, I set up a mathematical model to analyze the structure of south wall's shade in residential buildings of Tianjin and computer the value of energy saving. At the same time, the energy saving curve is drawn. In the theory, the solar energy which is shaded by shade in summer is the more the better. On the contrary, the solar energy which is shaded by shade in winter is the less the better. In fact, we must think of many other factors such as the load of shade's bracket, the fa?ade of building and the difference of height in window and floor, etc. In order to accelerate convective heat transfer and decrease the weight of shade, we also design and analyze the structure of ventilation slot in order to provide reference to engineering designer.
